The University of Calgary continues its evolution as a globally impactful institution, a place where anyone can come and start something transformational in technology and numerous other fields.

During the past year, UCalgary Continuing Education has launched 15 new programs to help build a high-demand future digital workforce. These short programs are in cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Continuing Education is collaborating with Microsoft and WeCloudData on some of these programs.

“We recognize the importance of providing our global learning community with the latest skills and knowledge on high-demand fields,” says Dr. Ewa Wasniewski, PhD, director of domestic programs for Continuing Education.

“This programming ensures that those who choose UCalgary Continuing Education to launch or continue their digital upskilling journey have access to the most up-to-date tools and resources to support their learning and career development.”

The latest addition to Continuing Education’s Computer and Information Technology catalogue is an online Machine Learning and AI Boot Camp delivered in collaboration with RoboGarden, a cloud-based publisher specializing in interactive AI-driven digital skills.

"The world of artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly with recent innovations in AI and machine learning," says Dr. Mohamed Elhabiby, PhD’07, MBA’17, co-founder and president of RoboGarden. "It gives me great pleasure to know that we're equipping future innovators with the skill sets they need to bring their ideas and initiatives to life, all right here in RoboGarden's hometown of Calgary, no less."

Practical learning and gamified lessons

The boot camp delivers a high-demand program with a focus on practical learning and gamified lessons. Prior programming experience or credentials are not required. Instead, the boot camp meets students on their terms, encouraging them to transfer their prior studies and life experiences into industry-informed machine learning and AI projects. Delivered via the RoboGarden online learning platform across 10 progressive learning modules, the course offers an enriching experience and culminates in a capstone project.

In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, AI and machine learning have emerged as the driving forces behind innovation. These technologies increasingly influence our daily lives, industries and economies, opening the door to exciting career prospects.

By embracing learning opportunities, individuals can prepare for full-time or freelance positions in industries adopting AI and machine learning, unlocking career prospects. In a world where AI and machine learning drive innovation, UCalgary opens doors to exciting possibilities, readying participants for an everchanging future.
