Students will get to study at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, a historic and prestigious institution aimed towards foreign students studying Italian language and culture. UCalgary credits for two of the following courses will be given: ITAL 203, ITAL 301, ITAL 309, ITAL 401, ITAL 403, ITAL 499.

You will get to thoroughly explore Perugia and its landmarks during your learning experience. A few days after arriving in Perugia, students will go on a guided visit to Palazzo Gallenga-Stuart, the headquarters of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia. Here, you can enjoy the baroque architecture of the building, it’s elaborately decorated rooms, and stunning views overlooking the piazza below. Students will also visit a local Agriturismo, which is a working farm set up to accommodate guests with meals and/or overnight stays! Here, students will be given cooking lessons, furthering their cultural learning and experience. A pottery workshop is also planned in the nearby town of Deruta, a region historically famous for its ceramics.

Students will go on all-day field trips to Arezzo, Gubbio, and Assisi. There will also be an overnight field trip to the city of Bologna, in the region of Emilia-Romagna. Here, there will be visits to the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna (National Art Gallery of Bologna), and the anatomical theatre and library in the Palace of Archiginnasio. Students are given a free day on the trip to Bologna, where you can independently explore the city! Near the end of this Group Study Program, a final visit will be made to the capital, Rome, where students will explore the Angelica Library, and Sant’Agostino and San Luigi dei Francesi churches. There will also be time for students to freely explore Rome themselves!
