In the next 12 years, 100,000 more young people will be entering Alberta’s job market. That’s a one-third increase that follows a roughly 15-year period where the 18 to 24 population was flat in Alberta. This will dramatically increase competition for scarce spots at education and training institutions in the province.

For new grads this may come as a startling fact. How will you compete in an already hyper-competitive job market? You worked hard to get your bachelor’s degree but so did many others with the same degree. How will you stand out in the résumé pile? The good news is the Haskayne School of Business has the answer.

What’s next, new grad? A 10-month Haskayne Master of Management

The Haskayne Master of Management is a unique 10-month program designed for recent grads (less than three years post-degree work experience) of non-business bachelor’s programs to gain a valuable business foundation. Here are four reasons why you should invest in yourself with the Haskayne Master of Management:

1. Whether we like it or not, disruption is here to stay.

The world seems upside down these days. The types of jobs are changing, employers are expecting well-rounded individuals, and the pace of technology is hard to keep up with. Through in and out of class learning experiences and a holistic foundation in business, the Haskayne Master of Management will help you face disruption head on by complementing your bachelor’s degree with business acumen.

2. Job vacancies are rising, this means more opportunities for career growth.

Jobs are in abundance but so are the number of candidates applying for jobs. In the fourth quarter of 2021 (the latest numbers available), the number of vacancies in Alberta is over 90 per cent higher than in Q4 2019. That's a large increase from the normal level of about 10 per cent. Now think of how many candidates are applying for those jobs. How will you differentiate yourself and stand out to employers? Consider the Haskayne Master of Management degree, which will provide you with more skills and real-world experience in less than a year.

Investing in your education will pay dividends and the Master of Management is proving to be a game changer. On average, graduates of this program are making $22,000 a year more after completing their degree. Additionally, 87 per cent of students got a job within three months of graduating.
