Jinmo Rhee

Assistant Professor

Dr. Jinmo Rhee is an Associate Professor at SAPL, known for his innovative work at the intersection of architecture, computational design, and artificial intelligence (AI). As a designer and scholar, Dr. Rhee is deeply invested in exploring how AI can be leveraged to uncover novel design methods that respond to significant social and environmental challenges. Initially skeptical about climate change, Dr. Rhee’s perspective shifted as he witnessed firsthand the real crises affecting the built environment, such as wildfires and rising sea levels. Recognizing these challenges as inevitable, he now focuses on the potential and practical contribution of computational design research to address these issues.

Dr. Jinmo Rhee’s work exemplifies the transformative potential of technology when applied thoughtfully to social and environmental challenges. Through his research and teaching, Dr. Rhee not only develops innovative solutions to pressing issues like climate-induced displacement but also expands the role of AI in design beyond mere aesthetics. His interdisciplinary approach and commitment to real-world relevance make his contributions particularly significant in the ongoing quest to address the complex problems facing our world today.
