Meet Your 2022-23 Team

Hello, my name is Marika and I am the President of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Student Association and want to welcome you to SAPL! At the SA we hope to provide you with the most engaging and enriching experience during your time here.

The student association is your student government. We are involved in planning all aspects of student life and wellbeing at SAPL. This includes academic affairs, social events, student wellness initiatives, and making sure your voice is heard. Our main objectives are to ensure you are fulfilled with your academic experience, maintain a positive and meaningful social experience, and provide opportunities to connect students to people and places beyond the SAPL walls. None of which would be possible without the help of our amazing and experienced team.

We are committed to making your degree a positive experience and helping you foster new friendships and academic ventures. We can’t wait for the exciting year ahead and look forward to seeing you at all our exciting upcoming events!

Together, the President and Vice Presidents (VPs) create a vision for the year and work towards its realization. The team is responsible for every aspect of the SA, guiding and supporting Directors and Representatives.

President

Hi I’m Marika, a current MPlan student in SAPL, and your SA President! I oversee the operations of the SA and make sure student needs and voices are heard and met. When in not in school, I am likely home in Vancouver with my two dogs, Molly and Frankie.

Vice President Academic

Alima’s role is to help the SA improve the educational and programmatic elements of the student body. She supports and works with the Academic Program Representatives and is the link to communicate with the faculty on behalf of the students. She also assists students with matters regarding study abroad.

Vice President Internal

Hey there! My name is Neal Greywall and I am your VP Internal! I was inspired to join the SA because creating community and fostering relationship is incredibly important to me. Many of my responsibilities are centered around social events, and health & wellness initiatives. I received my B.Sc in Geography at the University of Calgary before going into environmental consulting. I am now in my second and final year of the MPlan program.

Vice President External

Simran is responsible for increasing the frequency of program-specific professional development activities in order to give students additional opportunity to meet with industry professionals and learn skills that will help them thrive in their future endeavours. She loves being outdoors and will never say no to an adventure or food :)

Vice President of Operations and Finance

Sandra takes care of all the financials and budgeting within the SA. She oversees communications (including website and social media) and assists with the upkeep of student facilities. Sandra is also an avid traveler who has travelled to over 20 countries so far and hopes to add more to the list.
