SAPLSA Welcome Message

Welcome to the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Student Association (SAPLSA)! I’m Zacharie, your SA President, and I’m thrilled to welcome all of you to our vibrant community. SAPLSA serves as your dedicated student government, passionately engaged in shaping your journey at SAPL. We’re committed to providing an exceptional academic experience, organizing dynamic social events, promoting student well-being, and ensuring that your voices are heard.

Our mission is simple: to enrich your academic pursuits, foster a positive social environment, and create connections beyond SAPL. With our remarkable and experienced team of volunteers, we aim to make your academic journey not only successful but truly gratifying. As you navigate your degree, we’re here to help you forge new friendships, explore academic opportunities, and create memories that will last a lifetime. The days are numbered when our students will be split between two campuses, and we cannot wait to again collaborate in the same place.

Zacharie Forest, President

Together, the President and Vice Presidents (VPs) create a vision for the year and work towards its realization. The team is responsible for every aspect of the SA, guiding and supporting Directors and Representatives.

President

Zacharie is an aspiring planner in his second year of the MPlan program and serving as the SAPLSA president for this academic year. His role involves guiding the overall vision of the student association and addressing student concerns as they arise. He is eager to help his fellow students in their academic journeys. You will find Zacharie working away in studio most times and spending time with his classmates. In his free time, he enjoys reading books, playing sports, and visiting with family and friends.

Vice President Academic

Alexus is a second-year Master of Planning (MPlan) student at the University of Calgary, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Geography. In her role as VP Academic, she actively coordinates and addresses student concerns, ensuring they are effectively communicated to the faculty. Her goal is to foster a supportive and responsive academic environment where all student needs are met. Alexus is passionate about creating positive change and enhancing the student experience through her leadership and commitment.

Vice President Internal

Lucas Campbell is a second year Master of Planning student and VP Internal for the 2024-25 academic year. As VP Internal, Lucas oversees SAPL community events, health and wellness initiatives, exhibitions, and galleries. Lucas holds a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Economics & Society, and minoring in Computer Science and Geography & Environmental Studies. Lucas is interested in dense housing, walkable communities, active and public transportation, and climate change solutions enabled by both policy and design.

Vice President of Operations and Finance

Ibrahim Taleb is a second year Master of Planning student and VP Finance and Operations for the 2024-25 academic year. As VP Finance and Operations, Ibrahim oversees SAPL SA finance and budgeting. Ibrahim also oversees the communications among the SAPL SA social media accounts. Ibrahim holds a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Urban Studies. Ibrahim is interested in coordinating the development processes between the public and private realm and implementing urban design within traditional practices.
