For fourth-year students at the Schulich School of Engineering, it’s the culmination of months of hard work and determination.

The annual Engineering Design Fair is an opportunity for student teams to showcase their capstone projects and see their ideas and innovations come to life in an interactive setting for the campus community.

This year’s event, sponsored by TD Insurance, was held April 4 and featured more than 100 projects from a variety of engineering disciplines, ranging from the smallest of nanotechnologies and stem-cell research to large infrastructure designs for roads and pedestrian bridges.

“We want to give our students the opportunity to get hands-on experience, working on a project that has an impact on our community and world,” says Dr. Anders Nygren, Schulich’s vice-dean.

“We also want to help foster relationships in our community, which could range from other faculties on campus to businesses and industry partners, who not only help in judging the competition portion of the fair, but are also directly involved with many of the projects we have.”
