Dr. Michael Leaker appointed interim head of Department of Paediatrics

Alberta Health Services (AHS) Calgary Zone and the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Leaker, MD, as interim head of the Department of Paediatrics. The appointment took effect Oct. 18, 2021.

He takes over the role from Dr. Mark Anselmo, MD, who was named AHS Calgary Zone Medical Director, also on Oct. 18.

Michael has been an associate professor in the CSM’s Department of Paediatrics since 2008. He has also served as section chief, Hematology and deputy head, Clinical and Strategic Affairs. Michael has a long history with the department and the Alberta Children’s Hospital, beginning with a residency in Calgary in 1985. He graduated medical school at the University of Alberta in 1985.  

We thank Michael for taking on this interim role and would like to welcome him to a senior leadership position within the CSM and AHS.
