Who We Are

We are an undergraduate club that focuses heavily on everything urban. Our focus is to create a community of like-minded students interested in the built environment.

Our Goals

Networking

We have a strong belief that our club should provide students with connections necessary to prepare and familiarize them with the industry that they want to possibly work in. We have a series called Urban Connection, where we invite speakers to come talk to students about projects they've working on and what it is like to work in the industry. These projects range from Master Plans, Playgrounds and Buildings. In the past we've invited people from all over the world working in the industry of Urban Planning, Landscape architecture and Real Estate. We also organize have social events online and in person, we would love to meet you guys!

Advocacy

The right to the city is not merely a right of access to what already exists, but a right to change it after our heart's desire" This is a quote by David Harvey. It is through this that we work on advocation projects, as students we believe that it is important for us to start using our voices to speak about important urban topics such as affordable housing, sutainbility and equity in the city. Our goal is to have a proposal and present it to city council as our founding members. We are always looking for people who want to learn more about the processes of advocation!

Projects

Having experience for project implementation and design is essential for future students looking into designing in the built environment. UrbanCSA has provided a couple chances for students to get involved in community building and placemaking projects in partnership with the city of Calgary. We've worked on a street activation project in Panorama Hills, we working on curb extensions, play streets and park activations. We constantly look for opportunities for students to also get involved in neighborhood community associations by volunteering.
