Building Support for More Inclusive, Affordable and Diverse Housing

In the midst of a worsening affordable housing crisis in Canadian cities, local governments are pursuing innovative strategies to address the shortage of 5.8 million homes by 2030. The Reimagining Housing & Cities symposium at SAPL explored these issues focusing on the impact of citywide rezoning in Vancouver, Edmonton and Auckland. Keynote presentations complemented a panel discussion on much-needed policies to increase the supply of affordable housing in Calgary. Such thoughtful, strategic conversations about innovative planning and design contribute to equitable and inclusive systems change and a new reality of city building. We have some successes, but we need more wins, for more people, in more communities across Calgary.

If you are working to make cities a better place for everyone, let us help you reimagine how housing can make a difference!

Reimagining Housing & Cities Symposium

Reimagining Housing & Cities Symposium

Canada needs 5.8 million new homes by 2030 to restore housing affordability. Cities have a historic opportunity to improve housing outcomes for a fast-growing population by encouraging provision of a variety of homes across the housing continuum to make our cities more inclusive and resilient. Reimagining Housing & Cities symposium highlights critical planning and design strategies to address these challenges through housing market stabilization policies, transit-oriented development, investment in affordable housing and citywide rezoning. The event encourages partnerships for change and action to address the housing affordability crisis in Calgary.
