Ready for a Fortress Mountain hike?

After a night’s rest at the Barrier Lake Field Station, two UCalgary geoscience students spend a day hiking, observing, and collecting data on Fortress Mountain.

Take a break and enjoy the compelling scenery of Kananaskis Country, in this photo essay by Advancement photographer Riley Brandt. After a night’s rest at the Barrier Lake Field Station, geoscience PhD student Gerardo Zegers and undergraduate student/field assistant David Garcia spend a day hiking, observing, and collecting data on Fortress Mountain. The students deploy tiny digital temperature loggers on the mountainside to study permafrost over time.
