Public Humanities Fellow used her research skills to support Alzheimer Calgary
A recent issue of UToday showcased Comfort Kwarteng's summer 2023 placement at Alzheimer Calgary. Kwarteng (Political Science) secured this placement through a Calgary Institute for the Humanities (CIH) Public Fellowship. Her contribution aimed at improving access for underserved groups. The focus of her research was Indigenous perspectives on dementia.
Public Humanities Fellowships help PhD candidates, like Kwarteng, gain hands-on experience. By working directly with community organizations, fellows develop valuable transferable skills. Placements last 12 weeks over the summer. Participants receive a $7,500 stipend and tuition reimbursement.
Past community partners include:
- Calgary Catholic Immigration Society
- Esker Foundation
- Centre for Sexuality
- The Confluence
