Message from Your SA President

Hello, my name is Dimitri and I am in the MPlan program. I speak for our four VPs and I when I say: Welcome – we aim to provide you with a most enriching student experience. We will only be SAPL students once, so let’s make the absolute most of it.

There are three essential missions of the SA, matching our executive structure: First, our VP Academic, Komal, liaises the student body with the faculty and university. Secondly, our VP Internal, Emily, brings students together and foster a positive social environment. Thirdly, our VP External, Rachel, connects students with the world outside our walls for meaningful involvement and industry networking. None of which would be possible without our VP of Operations and Finance, Vincent, ensuring our organizational functionality.

It’s an exciting time to be able to dedicate yourself to studying, creating, and making life-long connections. This year in particular, we will be working to make sure everyone feels included and represented at our school, especially if you are doing school from a distance. Let’s have an awesome year together.

Executive Team

The President and Vice Presidents (VPs) work together as equals to create a vision for the year and work towards its reality. The president and each VP are responsible for any aspect of the SA, guiding and supporting the Directors and Representatives.

It’s up to Vincent to help the SA run effectively. He leads communications (including the website and podcast), the financials and budgeting, and assists with facility concerns.

Program-Year and GRC Representatives

The Representatives (Reps) are all about conveying the interests/needs of students. Each program is able to have a Rep, and each course-based program is able to have a Rep for each year. They communicate with the Dean and Associate Deans as your mouth and ears, and are also good go-to people for whenever volunteers are needed. The Graduate Representative Council (GRC) Reps liaise the SAPLSA with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) throughout the year: they bring your voice to the wider university community, and bring back news and info.
